Marina Mistress
of the Runes came to me with a very interesting commission. At
RuneCraft-UK Gary & Marina had designed a range of Runic Talismans,
which they were hand-crafting in wood, leather and parchment.
She wanted to commission twenty Runic Talismans from original
samples, in silver, ten large and ten small, with her special
runes carved into each one individually.
Below follows some photos of the

Using reticulation (surface melting) I reproduced the
samples Marina gave me, as blanks. I put the masters into
rubber moulds and made wax blanks from the moulds. These are
the masters, with the pink waxes. I carved the runes into
the twenty waxes before they were cast in sterling silver. |
After casting, the talismans look whitish grey before polishing.
The runes came up very clearly. |
I oxidised them completely black all over to make the runic
lines show up after polishing the silver. |
All ten small charm talismans finished. |
All ten large flat talismans finished. |
